Well, what do ya know, it’s Tuesday! Not only is it Taco Tuesday, but it’s also time for another neat little blog post! Last week, I talked about just how much paper your copier can handle.
This week, we’re going to talk about supplies. Yep, supplies, such as the toners and inks that your copier uses to create those amazing prints and copies. It is important that you ONLY use supplies that are made by the manufacturer of your equipment.
Why is that, you may ask? You may be wondering “Well, this one says it works with my copier, and it’s way cheaper than the manufacturer one…..”, Well, while that may hold true, What also holds true is that those “compatibles” are NOT tested or certified for use in your equipment, and can cause multiple issues, ranging from degraded print and copy quality, to faults and errors with the machine. Compatible supplies can also cause damage to your equipment, which would NOT be covered under a service contract or warranty.
The biggest benefit of having a service contract with a reputable dealer, such as CopyLady, is that dealers ONLY provide genuine supplies from the manufacturer. Genuine supplies are made by, and thoroughly tested by the equipment manufacturer for quality and function.
Compatibles, on the other hand, do not go through any testing, and in many cases, will cause issues with your machine. That is, if they even work to begin with. In the end, you’re spending more than you’re saving when you buy cheap compatibles. This is NOT like using cheap aftermarket parts in your old 2004 Honda Civic, where such a thing is perfectly fine. We’re talking about a precision piece of office equipment.
“What do you mean “If they work to begin with??””: Exactly that. Some compatibles are so poorly made that they either don’t fit at all, don’t fit correctly, cause the machine to throw a malfunction code of some sort, or even cause the machine to complain about an improper/incompatible supply item. In some cases, they can also end up dumping it’s contents inside your machine during the installation process, causing even bigger complications!
On laser printers and copiers, using compatible toners can cause quality issues such as streaks, smudging and inferior color quality. They can also cause damage to sensitive components, such as imaging drums.
The same can be said for aftermarket ink in an inkjet printer. Using compatibles here can cause issues, such as a clogged up print head and inferior print quality.
While it may not create a problem right then and there, it very likely will later on, and at the most inconvenient time possible. Don’t risk it.
When you get your copier from CopyLady, the supplies are included with your service contract, and CopyLady ONLY provides genuine OEM supplies for your machine.
