Find the copier that fits your needs!

Happy Tuesday! I see you’re here for another weekly post! Today’s post will be short and simple.

Today, we will talk about something important in any environment: Which copier is the best fit?

That’s right, there is such a thing as too much, or too little when it comes to your office equipment. We want to make sure you have the right equipment for your needs! There are two types of copiers out there: Desktop, and console models.

Desktop machines are well suited for small offices with just a few employees. Desktops have a very compact footprint to them, only requiring a small amount of space. Desktop machines also consume little energy to do their job. They are limited in paper capacity however, with one ream being the maximum a tray can handle. While the majority of desktop copiers only have one tray (Not counting the multipurpose one on the front), extra feed units can be added, giving more paper trays. In most cases, desktops are limited to 8.5×14 size paper, although there are some models that can handle up to 12×18. Desktop machines also do not feature finishing capabilities. Although some models do at least have a stapler, these are usually manually operated. Some desktop copiers do include a built-in FAX modem.

Console models are the bigger, free standing machines. Console copiers are great for larger offices with many employees. In their default configuration, most console copiers can hold upto 2 full reams of paper, one per tray. Most consoles can take up to 12×18 in the second paper tray, while the first one can go up to 8.5×14. Depending on the accessories you opt for, you will need a fair bit of space for the machine, as well as an outlet on a 20A circuit. Unlike desktops, console copiers can have a whole host of accessories added to them to enhance productivity, such as:

* Finishing unit – A finishing unit adds extra post-print features to your machine, such as folding, stapling and hole punching. You can also add a Mailbox tray unit to your finisher to give additional output trays!

* Extra feeders – These allow your copier to hold even more paper than the default configurations. You can add two additional 500-sheet trays, both of which can go up to 12×18 paper, a 3,000 sheet feeder (2 trays x 1,500 8.5×11 sheets), or even a 6,000 sheet 8.5×11 side feeder!

* High speed document processor – This accessory allows you to not only scan tons of documents in little time, but you can scan both sides of the document in one pass! This accessory is included by default on all CopyLady machines!

* FAX modem – Allows your copier to send and receive FAXes with ease. Can be added to ANY CopyLady console machine!
